Hi Maximum Football fans,
The end of 2025 gave you Franchise mode and a fresh season of content. Now, we’re working toward the future. Our goal is simple: a faster, tighter, more rewarding football experience.
The New Team
In 2026, Maximum Football hits a new gear. We’ve partnered with Open Ocean Games to lead development. This is a team of experts in building online, persistent experiences.
The first update from this new partnership drops next month. This will be the first in a series of exciting releases we have planned for the rest of the year.
Narrowing the Focus
Building a deep simulation game with a small team is a beast. We’re proud of the foundation: Dynasty, Franchise, and the customization suite.
But it’s time to stop spreading thin and start digging deep. For the foreseeable future, we have two priorities:
- On-Field Intensity: Improve the flow and feel of the game.
- Online Play: Make the experience rewarding for everyone.
We’re also tackling the bugs and gameplay feedback you’ve been sending us.
The Hard Truths
We believe in being real with you. To make Maximum Football the game it needs to be, we’ve made some tough calls on what stays and what goes.
- Physics & Interaction: We talked about “Backbreaker” physics in the past. That project was simply out of scope for our team. Instead, we’re perfecting the engine we have. The system is already physics-driven in that momentum, size, and angles matter. We’re focusing our energy there to make sure every hit feels earned.
- Stabilizing the Game: Our priority is stability. We’re fixing the memory issues on consoles so players with massive customization libraries don’t have to worry about crashes. Unfortunately, this means roster sharing has to ride the bench for the foreseeable future.
- Refining the Rules: We’re a specialized team, and we’ve decided to be the best at one thing rather than “okay” at three. We’re putting everything we have into the core game we have now. This means that other rulesets like Canadian Football won’t be added.
The March Update
Lock in. Our first update of 2026 drops March 24th. Here’s what’s changing:
- Broadcast Overhaul: We’re killing the splash screens. You’re here to play football, not watch menus.
- Performance Tune-up: We went under the hood to optimize performance across all platforms. It’s smoother, faster, and tighter.
- The Bug Hunt: Alongside Open Ocean Games, we’re crushing the game-breaking bugs that got in your way.
Full patch notes drop on March 24th.
The changes don’t end there. We have tons of updates and even more content coming this year.
